Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemorated With Virtual Events

WASHINGTON, DC – The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, will mark Holocaust Remembrance Day on Thursday with a special virtual event where survivors will reflect on the lives of Europe’s Jews and other people lost during the Holocaust.

The United Nations designated Jan. 27, the anniversary of the day in 1945 when troops from the Soviet Union liberated the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland from the Nazis, as Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The special event begins at 6 pm on Thursday.

After the live broadcast, the recording will be available to watch on demand on the museum’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
