TORONTO – Ontario’s health chief is set to provide an update today on the COVID-19 situation in the province.

Dr. Kieran Moore’s press conference comes after the provincial government announced its plan last week to gradually repeal public health measures.

It is also Moore’s last regular scheduled public appearance before the restrictions are set to ease on Monday.

The limits for indoor social gatherings are set to rise from five to 10, and restaurants will be able to reopen their dining rooms with a capacity of 50 percent.

Theaters will also be able to reopen, and “spectator areas” such as arenas and concert venues will be able to welcome as many as 500 guests back, or 50 percent of their usual seating capacity – whichever is less.

The restrictions are expected to ease further on 21 February, if the COVID-19 situation allows, with indoor collection limits rising to 25.
