Ryan Reynolds gets a street named after him in Ottawa

In recognition of Ryan Reynolds’ charitable contribution and efforts, the Mayor of Ottawa honors the actor with a street named after him.

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds will soon have its own street named after it in Canada’s capital. Reynolds was born and raised in Canada and started his acting career there with the Nickelodeon series Fifteen. Since then, Reynolds has continued to show his love and appreciation for his homeland and has become one of Canada’s most acclaimed and acclaimed actors.

The Canadian star and his wife, Blake Lively, are both known for their dedicated work with various charities over the years. Back in 2019, Lively and Reynolds donated $ 1 million to a nonprofit organization in Chicago known as the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two stars have donated over $ 1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada and continue to show their support for the less fortunate in these tumultuous times.

On Twitter, Mayor Jim Watson now shares the news of the national recognition of Reynolds as they honor him in Canada by having a metropolitan street named after him, “Ryan Reynolds Way.” Although Reynolds had grown up in Vancouver for most of his life, he had briefly spent part of his youth in Vanier, Ottawa. Reynolds generously donated to the local charities in his old hometown to fight hunger during the ongoing pandemic. In recognition of his efforts, the mayor tweeted, “Clearly, Ottawa has a special place in Ryan’s heart.In a playful response, Reynolds jokingly says he has now changed his daughter’s name to “Ottawa.” See the healthy interaction below:

Both Reynolds and his wife continue to make charitable contributions to their communities and engage in philanthropy to help provide assistance to people in need, especially by offering their support to Canada, as they have previously teamed up with the Ottawa Public Health to encourage vaccinations. Recently, Reynolds raised over $ 850,000 through an ugly sweater campaign for the SickKids Foundation, which supports Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. Last year, Lively and Reynolds donated $ 250,000 to a Canadian group known as Influence Mentoring, which offers support to native students to help eliminate gaps in education and employment.


With Reynolds’ continued support and love for Canada constantly exhibited through humanitarian efforts, it comes as no surprise to his home country to commemorate his astonishing achievements. Last year, Reynolds was also awarded the 2021 General’s Performing Arts Award in Canada, in recognition of his past achievements as one of Canada’s most beloved and well-known actors. Although the details of when the street sign will be placed have not been specified, it is clearly a clear indicator of Canada’s and Reynolds‘mutual love for each other.
