Dashcam footage captures frightening moments when a towbar flies out and smashes into another car

Dashcam footage has captured the moment a 10kg steel towbar flew off a wagon and smashed into the windshield of another vehicle in South Australia.

Michael Allison was sitting behind the wheel of the trailing car when the trailer’s towbar came loose near the Hahndorf exit on Thursday.

“It happened at such a rate, and the impact was, wow, really massive,” Mr Allison said.

The outside continued, but Mr Allison said he thought the other driver had no idea what had happened.
