Huntingdale: Two children died in suspected homicide

A father and his two young children have died in what is believed to have been a murder-suicide in the south-east of Perth.

Police were called to a house on Essington Street in Huntingdale around 6.35pm on Friday by a family member.

No one in the house survived.

It is understood that the mother of the children was at the scene.

There were about two dozen relief workers on site after 1 p.m.

Police cordoned off 100 meters of the street – which is only a few hundred meters from a local primary school.

Shocked neighbors said the street was usually quiet.

Two police officers were comforted about 150 m from the scene.

The crime scene was extended to a nearby park just before noon.

In a statement issued late Friday, police would only say it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of three people in a home in Essington Street.

“Detectives are currently on the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement said.
