Dr. John Gerrard said at today’s COVID-19 update press conference that masks will be mandatory for students in grades seven and above, ahead of the official announcement of the plan to return to school.
“Masks will be mandatory from year seven and above, and encouraged to those over year three,” he said.

“Let’s wait until the plan is officially released – I probably should not speak until it is officially released.”
He later said there is nothing in the plan for returning to school that will “shock Queenslanders”.
“Parents should not be worried about the plan,” he said.
Dr. Gerrard added that the full details of the plan for returning to school will be announced soon.
