A man in Sydney has escaped serious injuries after his balcony fell while standing on it in the eastern part of the city.
Fire and Rescue NSW says the second-floor porch on the patio for living in Bondi’s Botany Street collapsed on a parked car around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Firefighters used a ladder platform truck to assess the structural damage to the property and then a support technique to support the roof of the house.
After securing the stage around the encapsulated balcony, they were eventually expected to allow residents to return to the residence.
The man was treated on the spot by ambulance officers for minor injuries.
Fire Chief Superintendent Scott Dodson said the incident was a timely reminder that calling triple zero in an emergency can often mean the difference between life and death.
