M5 and A30 in Exeter closed due to ‘police incident’ that caused heavy traffic congestion

Parts of both the M5 and A30 at Exeter have been closed due to a ‘police incident’.

The traffic is queuing on the northbound lane of the motorway at junction 29 – junction Exeter Airport / Honiton.

The A30, which runs under the M5 near Science Park, is also closed in both directions due to the incident.

Google Traffic Data shows severe delays in the area, and travel monitoring software, INRIX, reports traffic jams.

The exact nature of the police incident has not yet been clarified.

Devon and Cornwall police are being contacted for more information.
