Three arrested after fatal car accident in Forest of Dean

Three people have been arrested in connection with a fatal collision on B4228 in the Forest of Dean.

The accident took place around 5.15pm between the villages of Sling and St. Braivels, with a blue Ford Fiesta and a red Mini involved.

The driver of the Mini, a woman in her 30s, died on the spot.

The other driver involved in the accident suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and one of them has also been arrested on suspicion of distorting the trial.

A Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said: “A woman died in a two-vehicle collision on B4228 near Sling in the Forest of Dean yesterday, Friday 28 January.

‘Police were called shortly after 5.15pm with a report of a collision involving a Mini and a Ford Fiesta.

“This happened between the villages of Sling and St Braivels, close to The Orepool Inn.

“The rescue services attended and the driver of the Mini, a woman in her 30s, died on the spot. Her relatives and the forensic pathologist have been notified.

The driver of the Fiesta was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

They added that he will remain there today, Saturday, January 29th.

Investigators are eager to hear from anyone who saw either the blue Ford Fiesta or a silver Volkswagen Golf driving between Coleford and Sling before the collision.

They also ask anyone with dashcam footage of one of these vehicles to come forward.
