Britain’s top official has been called upon to halt taxpayers’ funding of another independence prospect containing SNP policy promises.
Cabinet Secretary Simon Case will consider intervening after it emerged that a unit of 11 officials had been set up to work on a new White Paper.
In her government program, Nicola Sturgeon, the prime minister, said a “detailed prospectus that would guide the decision” on the country’s constitutional future was being drafted by the Scottish Government.
It has since been reported that around £ 700,000 is spent annually on the project as a result solely of the salaries of the officials involved.
