A fire at the Ivanhoe Hotel on Main Street on Saturday night is considered suspicious, Vancouver firefighters said.
The fire started in a room on the second floor of the hotel and traveled through the wall and into the attic before crews could put it out, according to Trevor Connelly, assistant chief of Vancouver Fire Rescue Services.
Connelly said there was minimal water damage to the rooms that burned, but crews had to open the walls to get to the fire.
“From all reports, no one was displaced because of this,” Connelly said. “The spaces involved and the areas involved are not housing for anyone.”
The cause of the fire was still under investigation from Sunday, but it is believed to be suspicious, crew said. Vancouver police have been notified and are investigating the case.
