UK’s biggest reuse/repair hub transforms thousands of objects in Manchester

We took a look inside the Renew Hub, where donated items are given a new lease of life to help reduce waste and Manchester’s carbon footprint.

The UK’s biggest reuse and repair facility has been here in Manchester for over a year and has upcycled thousands of objects. The Renew Hub in Trafford Park is a 5000m2 operation that sees skilled mechanics, technicians, designers, and more come together as part of a joint initiative between R4GM spirit SUEZ to take donated items across Greater Manchester and turn them into new usable goods.

These items are then sold in numerous stores across the region, or on their ebay website. Each year, money made from selling the objects will be going back to good causes across Greater Manchester such as the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity and Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund. The initiative is all about giving back to the community and reducing the environmental impact of waste and our carbon footprint. We went down to speak to people involved in the process and witness someone’s trash being turned into someone else’s treasure.
