Culcheth hair salon makes the cut for national awards

A HAIR salon in Culcheth is reveling in the news that it has been shortlisted for national hair and beauty awards.

Salon 22, of Warrington Road, has been shortlisted in the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2023.

The salon opened its doors in May this year, and has been shortlisted in the ‘Best New Salon’ category.

Not only this, but one of Salon 22’s stylists, Amy Asquith, has been shortlisted in the national ‘Best Hair Stylist’ category, too.

Salon 22’s owners Mandy Sculthorpe and Sarah Butterworth are ecstatic with the chance to win the award, saying ‘it would be the cherry on top of a fantastic first year in business.’

The Culcheth salon is hoping to help revolutionize the beauty industry, with one focus being on helping to end period poverty in the UK – Salon 22 offers free sanitary products in its restrooms, for example.

While at the salon, clients are offered a range of beverages that change seasonally, and the salon also has a purpose-built office area, with laptop and USB charging ports included.

The owners also say they try to make the salon as environmentally friendly as possible: “We make a variety of sustainable considerations within the salon.

“We recycle as much general waste as possible, including hair color boxes, plastics and hair.

“We filter our water and offer to the clients chilled with reusable ice cubes. We offer magazines through an online app, which provides a great variety of choices in reading material.”

Although the salon has experienced incredible successes in the past 12 months, everyone there is looking forward to business in the future, and moving from strength to strength.

The owners added: “We are always looking to expand our skill set, there’s always something new to learn, it’s the beauty of the industry, and we fully intend to hold on tight to this crazy beautiful ride as long as is possible.

“In the future, we plan to expand our team, and offer opportunities to the new aspiring hairdressers that we once were, in a nurturing supportive environment, instilling confidence and passion into the next generation.”
